Stairway to Heaven

Some say stick to what you know, whilst others say go bold!

Whichever side of the fence you’re on, we have the stair carpet for you.

Stripes

Stripes have become one of the most popular choices of stair carpets. With the huge increase popularity, it seems stripes have become a staircases best friend.

Whether it’s tufted stripes from our Durham Twist Stripe range or loop stripes from our Deco Collection Two Tone, it seems that the world has gone potty for stripes.

From a design point of view, it makes complete sense as the stripe design draws the eye up the staircase to the next floor. They’re attention grabbing and can be a real style statement depending on the colour you choose; for example our Kingston Stripe from our Deco Collection is a very popular choice for those who want to inject colour on a grand scale.

If you’re not looking to make a statement, but instead add some subtle elegance to your home, then a neutral coloured stripe is for you, like our Natural Two-Tone Stripe from our Deco Collection. This choice gives just enough design to draw the eye but not enough to change the feel of the space.

Zig Zags

Much like stripes, Zig Zags have seen a recent turnaround in demand. Giving much of the same benefits as stripes, but with an added layer of style.

When a neutral Zig Zag is chosen it can emulate the timeless elegance of herringbone flooring, adding a classic design in an understated way.

However, going bold with Zig Zags can overhaul your stairs and create an area that is more than just a through-way in your home. Our Deco Collection has an array of designs that can help you create a staircase that speaks volumes.

Loops

Loop carpets are a great choice for any staircase thanks to how they are manufactured.

The basic loop structure gives added durability and flexibility that makes them perfect for heavy traffic areas.

Tartan

Tartan & Plaid carpets offer a unique feel as soon as they are installed. Conjuring up classic images of log fires and tartan textiles or clean contemporary style in the case of neutral plaids. When it comes to tartan & plaids on your stairs, they can add that timeless elegance, providing a feeling of warmth in an area of the home that is easy to overlook.

Pattern

Adding a patterned carpet like our Durham Edition or Prince Bishop ranges to a stair can added visual texture without adding an imposing design. A pattern of any kind on a staircase will draw the eye up the stairs and add visual depth to the space. A patterned carpet that includes an array of colours can also act as a connection point between colour schemes that are upstairs and those that are downstairs.

Plain

The classic carpet choice that has stood the test of time is the plain carpet. There are many reasons behind the popularity of this choice but mainly because they look superb. A plain carpet can inject colour, add a neutral focal point, tie areas of a home together and much more.

The main choice when it comes to a plain carpet is which colour to choose. Getting your colour scheme right can set up a staircase for life. So, whether its injecting colour with our Durham Twist range or adding a plush velvet finish with our Quintessential Twist, there’s a plain carpet for every step!

Stair Runner vs Full Fit

Once you have chosen your stair carpet, the next major decision is whether you go for a stair runner or have the carpet fitted across the full width of the staircase. When making this choice it is useful to consider details such as ease of maintenance, the use of stairrods or edging to follow the shape and width of the staircase.
